The concept behind informatica feminale Baden-Wuerttemberg

informatica feminale Baden-Wuerttemberg brings students and scientists from universities, pedagogic institutions, institutes of higher education and dual colleges, as well as all those interested in computer science and related studies, together with female professionals with  practical experience. It is a place of experimentation, aimed at generating more appeal for women, to the study of computer science.

informatica feminale Baden-Württemberg enables interested women to further their qualifications in an atmosphere conducive to learning.

The venue of informatica feminale Baden-Württemberg changes annually between the Hochschule Furtwangen University and the University of Freiburg.
Using the Call for Lectures, women from academic, professional and practical fields may present their lecture offers. The program committee assesses them annually and, if necessary, calls for additional teaching offers. The summer school lessons offered will cover the complete area of study in computer science: theory, practical, technical and applied informatics, computer science for society, computer science for specialized areas and various presentations covering multi-disciplinary topics.

Lessons offering basic knowledge in computing are on high demand, especially from students in the basic study period, for example programming or computer handling. Lessons that play a role in improving soft skills for those students taking part will also be on offer, including topics regarding women and gender research. Female computer scientists and practitioners who wish to further their knowledge through life-long study are also welcome.

In the past, a large number of female professionals have taken this opportunity to vary their existing teaching concepts or to integrate their practical know-how into their college lectures, as well as to further themselves on their way to professorship. Participants may take part by offering creative suggestions for teaching programs, which they wish to be offered in the following summer school, or which their local colleges offer.

Female lecturers from the industry have the opportunity to test the teaching situation in a university context and to form a foundation for a career at university level.  Also taking advantage of this opportunity, multi-disciplinary lecturer teams may crop up and try out new and innovative teaching methods.
